Auto-Bailout

Posted by Mike on Dec 11, 2008 in World-Wide

These are my views, and my views only.  Nobody else told me any of this, and I’ll probably have a lot of people hate me for this.  Anyway, here are my views on this $14 billion-dollar auto bailout (loan) that is taking place:

Why is it that last year, any cars Toyota made brough in a profit for them of roughly $1500, while GM lost around $4500 per vehicle?  If you ARE NOT making money, but LOSING that much money on a vehicle, why the HELL do you keep making it?  STUPID!

Another thing that I think is the problem, are the workers themselves.  If they really are making $28/hr on average, why doesn’t GM just freaking FIRE every single person in the union.  Just get rid of it all.  I mean, I totally am FOR unions, and I understand why they are good for employees and everything, but if GM just fired everyone in it, and rehired them as normal employees at “lower pay”, it would probably save GM a SHITLOAD of money.  And before you get all pissed at me, think about this:  Would you rather make a lower pay and not have to worry about union shit, or would you rather NOT HAVE A JOB without the ability to probably ever get a job again because everybody else at GM got fired too, because you’re greedy.  Come on, you already make more money than like 75% of Americans, freaking start living like us.

Ugh, sorry, this financial market is just pissing me off.  PS: Invest in stocks right now! ;)

(Note: I cannot be help responsible for that last nor any statement in this writing.)

America … what happened to you?

Posted by Lia on Oct 14, 2008 in World-Wide

I know, I know, the most talked about subject out there. America and what is happening to it. Well this is not going to be like all the other posts/ blogs you have read. I am not going to sit here and tell you what is wrong with us, and how to fix it (knowing it’s all lies). I am simply going to tell you how I feel.

On Sept. 11 of 2001 I was not in school as I was getting my driver’s license that morning. I showed up to school to quickly be golf-carted to my classroom. I got in there and seen everyone watching the TV. They told me what was happening, and I cried a little. It’s sad that people would kill innocent people just to say “hey look at me, I did something bad”. Why would you train for years knowing your missions is to basically be killed. I don’t think you could pay me any amount of money to kill myself and others just because it’s my job. No thanks, fire me now! Well I remember not doing any work that day in school because we just had the news on in all our classes, and we had many group discussions. President Bush was in a Sarasota, FL classroom, weird. So everything was good until they used the phrase “The hi-jackers who plane landed in Somerset, PA were trained in Venice, FL”. I was like WTF, they just said two small towns (where I have family in both) in the same sentence on national TV. I quickly called my mom and talked her, and she said she was trying to get in touch with our family in PA. I was worried then because family is important to me. Well nothing happened to them, though they were only a few miles from where the plane went down. I have to say though, it’s amazing that those men on the plane forced it to hit just grass and not a building. They knew they were going to die, and did a very heroic thing and kept it away from another major site in D.C. or anywhere else.

So it’s now 7 years later, and people are still talking about that day. I don’t blame them, it was a very impactful day. Now I am not saying because 9-11 happened we are in this state of depression, but I do truly believe it has a great impact on it. It’s the snowball theory. When one thing goes wrong, it keeps sliding downwards and finally hits flat land. Well I think we are at that flat land, for now. Is there another hill ahead where we could fall some more, maybe so. Job market sucks, housing market sucks, people aren’t changing their ways and losing everything and then expect to be bailed out. If you buy an 800k house on a 150k yearly salary, you don’t deserve to be bailed out. If you buy an 100k house on your 100k salary, and then your company lays you off and you lose motivation and you fall a little behind, do you deserve a chance to save your house, yes! There is something wrong when people would rather help and save the assholes of America who don’t pay taxes, are living here as aliens and buying things way out of their means, than the everyday American middle class working individual who maybe be having some troubles with the market. Why? Why help someone who doesn’t want to help themselves and continues to spend and not help the person who gives and gives and now finally has to ask for some help in their life?

Now with President Bush about to leave office, we are left with a major choice. Who do we put in office? McCain or Obama? Tell me what you think? Well that is enough on my American view. I hope you enjoyed it and I will leave you with an awesome fact : Mickey Mouse (yes from Walt Disney World) gets more votes on the Presidential Ballets than either candidate combined each and every year. So why isn’t he president?
